Grover Cleveland, Sr., 73, of Bethel Acres, Oklahoma passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at his home.

He was born May 21, 1939 to Virgle and Rose (Sherwood) Cleveland in Alba, Texas.

Grover was raised in Alba, Texas until moving with his parents to Shawnee in 1955. He graduated with the class of 1959 from Shawnee High School. He lived throughout Oklahoma and North Texas before moving to Tecumseh in 1975 and lived there until 1999 when he moved the Shawnee/Bethel Acres area where he has lived since. He married Karen Watson on August 15, 1999 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Grover proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 5th Armored Division.

He worked as Campus Police for Oklahoma Baptist University.

Grover was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Shawnee and was of strong faith and loved his church. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Grover loved to garden and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Alexander; and step-father, Omer White.

Grover is survived by his wife, Karen Cleveland, of the home; 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Grover Cleveland, Jr., and wife Kris, of Earlsboro and Bo Bradley, of the home; 2 daughters and son-in-law, Donna Monarch, of Midwest City and Kris and Grover Cleveland, Jr. of Earlsboro; brother and sister-in-law, Virgil ""Porkey"" and Darla Cleveland, of Elk City, OK; 2 grandchildren, Heather and Junior Swaggerty and Pax Monarch- McWhinney; and many friends and extended family.

The family has designated Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund as appropriate for memorials.

Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2013 and continue through service time. The family will gather to meet with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2013 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 39307 W. MacArthur, Shawnee with Reverend Lewis Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
