Phyllis Jo Cox, 83, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on July 9th, 2023. She was born on June 2, 1940, in Erick, Oklahoma, to the late JM and Edna Cooper. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Jerry Fairley, father of her two children; as well as husband Granvil Mcllroy and James Cox.

Phyllis leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory. She is survived by her daughter, Jera Fairley, and Alan Wedeking of Stamford, TX; her son, Jeff Fairley of Lubbock; and her sister, Jeanne Nix, and Terry Nix of Amarillo, TX. Phyllis was a beloved grandmother to Jennifer, Colton, and Jessica, and her three greatgrandchildren. Her family was a source of great happiness for her.

Phyllis found joy in raising her granddaughter, Jessica, which she loved very much. Phyllis also enjoyed gardening, sewing Barbie clothes, shopping, singing, playing the piano, attending church, making scrapbooks, playing bridge, and creating lasting memories with her family and friends.

Phyllis worked for the Lubbock Independent School District at Monterey High School. She later worked as a legal secretary for Cleddie Edwards, attorney at law, and was respected for her expertise and dedication.

Phyllis Jo Cox will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering love will be remembered fondly by those whose lives she touched.

A celebration of Phyllis's life will be held on 13th at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Sunset International Bible Institute in Phyllis's name.
