Winford "Butch" Francis

Winford "Butch" Francis, 66, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 29, 2006.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum with Dr. Gil Lain, senior pastor of Paramount Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.

Mr. Francis married Ann Powell on July 29, 1960, in Austin. He served in the U.S. Army, where he was awarded a Senior Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Star and one Bronze Star, a National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, one Bronze Star Medal, a Good Conduct Medal Clasp and a Driver Mechanic Badge.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Carla Francis; his parents; and his mother-in-law, Krystyne Douglas.

Survivors include a daughter, Mandy Galloway and husband Mike of Amarillo; a grandson, Ricky Dale Hill Jr. and wife Clarissa of Michigan; three granddaughters, Mallory Priest, Cassandra Priest and Mikayla Priest, all of Amarillo; a sister, Betty Moffett of Wichita, Kan.; and his father-in-law, Edward Douglas of Borger.

The family suggests memorials be to the Community Resources Service at Thomas E. Creek Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center, 6010 W. Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.

Viewing and visitation will be from 12:30 to 7 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
