Stuart Moss
October 23, 1939 - May 9, 2022

Stuart Moss, 82, of Pampa, and formerly of Del Rio, passed away on May 9, 2022, in Pampa.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Stuart was born on October 23, 1939 in Wheeler, Texas to Homer and Ida Moss. He attended schools in Wheeler County. Immediately after school, Stuart joined the military, first joining the Coast Guard. While in the Coast Guard, he worked as a mechanic, primarily on planes. Stuart eventually left to join the Navy, which he enjoyed much more than the Coast Guard. In the Navy, he reached the rank of Petty Officer 1, E6. Stuart had many men under on him on the different ships he served on, and they all respected him as their superior. One of his favorite stories to tell was how he was a part of several atomic bomb test sites. He was up close for the action, and he loved every bit of it.

On January 7, 1991, Stuart married the love of his life, Louise Marine in Del Rio, Texas where he was stationed with the military. Stuart later left the Navy and joined the Air Force. He was the "head engine man" for the jets at his base. After 50 years of total service, he retired from the military, but always said he was ready to go back any time they needed him. He and Louise stayed in Del Rio until February of 2022 when they moved to Pampa to be closer to family. Stuart loved living in Pampa and enjoyed being able to see all of his family at the same time. In his free time, Stuart liked to work on engines, shoot guns, go fishing, and be with his cats. He was a caring man and will be missed by his family.

Stuart is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tommy Moss.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Moss of the home; two stepsons, John H. Vargas and wife Miranda and Ignacio Vargas III and girlfriend Sherry Trefethen, all of Pampa; one stepdaughter, Sharon Vargas of Pampa; 13 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Terry Moss and wife Sharon of Amarillo.
