COOKEVILLE -- Shirley Kay Blount, 70, of Cookeville, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 14, 2010, in Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.

Mrs. Blount had chosen cremation and no services are scheduled at this time.

She was born March 14, 1940, in Frederick, Okla., to the late John and Irene Wassom Rogers.

Mrs. Blount was working as a discharge planner at White County Hospital, and prior to that, as a nurse for 30 years. She was of the Christian faith and relished gardening and working in her yard.

She received an award from the Putnam County Clean Commission for her yard. She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Her family includes two daughters and a son-in-law, Lori Stuckey of Azle, Texas, and Cindy and John Zaiger of Ft. Worth, Texas; a son, Michael Stuckey of Cookeville; two granddaughters, Kristen Stuckey of Azle and Alexandria Zaiger of Ft. Worth; and a grandson, J.T. Zaiger of Ft. Worth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Crest Lawn Funeral Home-Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
