Billy Gene Sams, 71, died Monday, June 28, 2010 in Amarillo.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. James Berry, Pastor officiating. Interment will be in "The Garden of Devotion" at Westlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Corey Sams, Pastor of Cliffside Baptist Church in Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Sams was born on April 26, 1939 in Littlefield, TX and had been a longtime resident of Borger. He married Pat Lilley on May 16, 1970. He retired as a thermal operator for Huber Corp. and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He loved to golf and camp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow W. and Lillie Mae Sams and his brother Harlan Sams.

He is survived by his wife Pat Sams of the home, son - Gary Sams and wife Erin of Borger, three daughters - Gena Sams of Amarillo, Sue Flournoy and husband David of Seagraves, TX, Pamela Pothuisje of Fritch, two brothers - Bobby Sams and wife Sibbie and Jerry Sams and wife Judy all of Amarillo, and eight grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Charles Lilley, Joe Bliss, Denny Ausbrooks, Joe Castagnetta, Billy Sams, Todd Sams, Donald Stang and Matt Porter. Honorary bearers will be Marvin York and Larry Hunt.
