David Thrams

January 6, 1940 - January 22, 2013 - Major David E Thrams USAF retired

With his children close at hand, Major David E. Thrams USAF retired, peacefully passed away on Tuesday January 22, 2013. With pure grit Dad turned what should have been a short losing battle with Colon Cancer into a 2 year fight for life.

David was born January 6, 1940 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Borger High School in 1958, and was commissioned to the USAF. In Vietnam he was a combat pilot that was awarded the Bronze Star and The Distinguished Flying Cross among his many decorations. He was the Survival School Commander at Fairchild in the 70's, and retired from the Air Force in 1979. He worked for North Coast Life Insurance as Vice President of Computer Services and Programming until retiring in 2007.

The past 2 years, Dad spent his days flying his model planes, and racing his model boats with his friends from the clubs. He found great pleasure fishing Lake Roosevelt with family.

David was preceded in death by his loving wife Liz in 2008 and is survived by his children; Diane Thrams Lorentson of Meridian, Id; Vicki Thrams May of Medical Lake, Wa; Michael Thrams of Lincoln, Wa; his 7 grandchildren, great granddaughter; and his ex-wife and friend Julie McDaniel.

Services are to be held at the Washington State VA Memorial in Medical Lake, Wa February 25, 2013.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Spokane in David's name would be appreciated.
