Jose Dominico "Joe" Trujillo

Jose Dominico "Joe" Trujillo, age 64, a long time Santa Rosa businessman, passed away December 22, 2004 at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. Joe was born June 3, 1940 in Sapello, NM to the home of Martin and Eufelia Vigil Trujillo. He was reared and and attended schools in Borger, TX. Joe served in the United States Army from 1958 through 1961. He married Carmen Campos on July 11, 1964 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Joe worked as an asbestos worker for 15 years and in 1973 until 1975 he was the Borden Milk Distributer. In 1975 up to the present he owned operated the Sun and Sand Restaurant in Santa Rosa. Joe served on the City of Santa Rosa City Council from 1980 through 1994. In 1994 he became Mayor of Santa Rosa until 1998. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club. Joe loved his Dallas Cowboys and the Santa Rosa Lions. He was a big supporter of Santa Rosa Lion Athletics and he loved playing golf. Joe was a loving husband, father grandfather, brother, son in law, uncle and friend and will be truly missed by his family and community of Santa Rosa. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Polito Trujillo and Martin Trujillo, and infant sister Lucinda Trujillo. Survivors include his wife Carmen Trujillo of the family home in Santa Rosa, his children Joseph Trujillo of Albuquerque; Dolores Trujillo of Las Vegas, NM; Mario Trujillo and wife Sharla of Santa Rosa; Mona Lisa Trujillo of Las Vegas, NM; Camilla Trujillo of Las Vegas, NM, grandchildren; Ruben Dominico Trujillo, Aislyn Trujillo and Mario Trujillo, Jr., mother and father in law; Pelagio and Trinnie Campos of Borica, NM. Also surviving are his sisters; Esperanza Williams of Santa Rosa; Eva Flores and husband Bobby of Albuquerque; Mrlinda Felingham and husband Nicky of Moriarty; sister's in law; Rita Trujillo of Los Lunas and Anne Trujillo of Sapello along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Sunday, December 26, at 7:00 pm from St. Rose Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 27, at 10:00 am also from St. Rose Church with Father Patrick Duffy officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be George Dodge, Jr., Manuel Dodge, Edward Romo, Bobby Flores, Alfonso Campos, and Bill Capps. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be James Cordova, Shawn Lopez, Johnny Martinez, E.M. Lucero, Kika Baca, Netta Baca, Faye Dudrey, William Dudrey, Eddie Salazar, Arthur Gonzalez, Arthur Chavez, Jimmy Quintana, Gene Timothy, Sam Patel, Vidal Trujillo, Jeff Sandoval, Jerome Trujillo, Miguel Trujillo, Robbie Flores, Tim Bray, Alfredo Flores, Johnny Marquez, Felipe Sanchez, Macedonio Chavez, Dick Garay, Sam Lopez, Brian Santrcok, Wes Powell, Benancio Trujillo, Ignacio Trujillo, Pete Campos, Brock Aragon, Orlando Valverde, and Adelaido Romero.
