Lynda Simmons (Cunningham)

Lynda Kay Cunningham, 81, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022, in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born on July 1, 1940, in Muleshoe, TX, to W.A. "Doc" and Marie Simmons. The family moved to Borger in the early 1940s, and she graduated from Borger High School in 1958. It was there she met her husband, Kenneth Cunningham, and the couple were married on June 10, 1960, in Borger, Texas. They were married for 61 years and made their home near Noble, OK, for the past 51 years. They recently moved to an independent living center in Norman, OK. They had three children: Ken Cunningham, Willy Cunningham, and Diana Cunningham Cole. Lynda worked as a secretary for Phillips Petroleum Company and an optometrist office early in the marriage. Later when her children were older, she worked in the cafeteria for Noble Public Schools and at the First Christian Church Mother's Day Out program for many years. She taught piano lessons to several students over the years. Her hobbies included sewing, cross stitching, gardening, ceramics, cooking, and playing the piano at several churches she attended. She loved to play cards and board games with family and friends. Her greatest pride came from her 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of Skyridge Baptist Church in Noble, OK.

Lynda was preceded in death by her father, W.A. "Doc" Simmons and her mother, Marie Simmons.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Cunningham of Norman, OK; her son, Ken Cunningham and wife Susie of Noble, OK; her son, Willy and wife Loraine of Moore, OK; her daughter, Diana Cole of Bartlesville, OK; 11 grandchildren: Kyle Cunningham and wife Abigail of Greeley, CO; Amanda Dennis and husband Kevin of Philadelphia, PA; Katelyn Keiss and husband Tyler of Holcomb, KS; Laura Cole of Noble, OK; Kourtney Kaufman and husband Luke of Oklahoma City, OK; Alyssa Estes and husband Noah of Stillwater, OK; Keith Cunningham of Noble, OK; Zachary Cole of Philadelphia, PA; Kraig Cunningham of Noble, OK; Liam Cunningham of Moore, OK; and Jaiden Cunningham of Moore, OK; two great-grandchildren: Isaiah Keiss and Eloise Keiss of Holcomb, KS; a brother Bill Simmons of Sherman, TX; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Skyridge Baptist Church in Noble, OK. Funeral arrangements are being made by the McMahan's Funeral Home in Noble, OK. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to Skyridge Baptist Church in Noble, OK.
