In Memory

Joe Watson Duncan

Joe Watson Duncan
Saturday, March 23, 1940 - Thursday, January 13, 2022

Joe Watson Duncan, 81, of Pampa, Texas, peacefully took Jesus’ hand and followed Him into eternal rest Thursday, January 13, 2022, at his home in Pampa, with family at his side.

He was born on March 23, 1940, in Durant, OK to Joe and Ida Duncan. They later moved to Borger and Joe graduated from Borger High School in 1958. For a stint, he worked at Borger News Herald then spent the next 41 years with the Texas Department of Highways and Transportation in both Borger and then Pampa as a Supervisor. Joe married Ginger Holt in 1981 and was a mere 16 days short of celebrating their 41st Anniversary.

Joe was not one to be idle for any length of time, he was always busy doing something around the house, perhaps attending garage sales, auctions or antiquing to find a bargain. He had enjoyed traveling to Colorado and camping with the family, but as time and age would no longer allow some of his hobbies, Joe turned his time and efforts to his kids and grandkids. He attended their activities and cheered them on as a huge fan! Joe’s big heart, soft spoken nature and his unforgettable smile will be tremendously missed by so very many who loved him.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents and a sister, Lou Stevens.

Left to carry on his legacy are his beloved wife, Ginger Duncan of Pampa; son, Curt Duncan and wife Mindy of Mobeetie; daughters, Alana Etchison and husband Larry, Amanda Copeland and husband Ed all of Pampa; brother, Kenneth Duncan and wife Sharon of Lewisville, TX; brother-in-law, Larry Stevens of Borger; eight grandchildren, Michelle Reddic, Adam Etchison, Colby Copeland, Hayden Duncan, Kelsey Smith, Shelbie Watson, Gatlin Duncan, Haley Casey; seven great-grandchildren and a host of extended family members.

Should donations in memory of Joe be a preference, the family suggests they be made to Highland Baptist Church, 1301 N. Banks Street, Pampa, TX 79065.

Joe will be available to pay final respects on Saturday, January 15th from noon until 8 pm and again Sunday from 1 until 8 pm at Winegeart Funeral Home with the family present for a Family Visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2022, at Highland Baptist Church with Brother Paul Nachtigall officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Fairview Cemetery.  The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
