Joe Giddens of Thornton died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at home.

Joe was born in 1939 at Borger, TX to Athelda and Joe Giddens II. Survivors are his wife, Georgie of Thornton; three children, Ginger Cheek (Chris) of Tulsa, Jenny Giddens of Arlington, TX, and Jimmy Walker of Longmont, CO.; Joe also has two grandsons, Pip Cheek and Lindsey Walker; Sister, Betty Helen Bell (Folsom), and her children, Stephanie Bell and Jim; and sister, Nancy L. Berger and her daughter, Renee Austin (Jeramie Rittiluechai), and her sons Graham and Mitchell and her daughter Michelle Austin.

His degree was in Geology from the University of Texas, Arlington, and he enjoyed working in the oilfields of North Texas. His second career included General Dynamics, Fort Worth, TX; Bell Helicopter, and LTV, Grand Prairie, TX. Joe retired from Lockheed Missiles & Fire Control, Camden.

He enjoyed many interests such as spelunking, Ham radio, canoeing and writing fire grants for local fire departments.

Lester Dan Langley

In our Class of '58 Yearbook, he looked serious and related what he wanted to be––a geologist––and where he wanted to go to college––Colorado School of Mines. In this photo, he looks happy. He became a geologist, but he received his degree from UT.
