Arlwone Howard Adams

September 8, 1939 - October 13, 2023

A legend, Arlwone “Howard” Adams, age 84, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, in Aubrey, Texas.

Howard was born in Quannah, Texas on September 8, 1939, to Nola Mae Draper and Julius Howard Adams. Quannah has a billboard that reads “home of a legend” and Howard loved to say that he was the “legend” in which that sign was referring.

Howard and Sharron were members of the Bethel Methodist Church of Denton County.

Howard, avid fisher and RV traveler, was married to Sharron Kay Parker in Lewisville, Texas on July 30, 1988, after a 6-year courtship. He spent his childhood in Borger, Texas with his younger brother Waylon Adams. His family ran various businesses in the small community, including a car dealership, dress shop and oil business.

He went to Frank Phillips Jr. College and played basketball for two years and then he transferred to North Texas State University (now known as UNT) where he finished his Bachelor of Business Administration degree and received a teaching certificate.

North Texas is where he met his first wife, Beverly Ann Morris. They were married in 1961 and had two sons, Kyle and Kurt. They started their family in Borger, but then moved to Lewisville, TX, where they spent most of their lives.

Howard worked in the oil fields, at Texas Instruments, and worked for Region10 teaching drivers ed. He also owned his own insulation business and later in his life he followed his passion for fishing and owned fish and tackle store in Lewisville.

When he retired, Howard and Sharron moved to Mt. Vernon, Texas to live closer to the lake he loved (Lake Cypress Springs) and friends he adored. They lived there until 2011 when they got the travel bug and decided to hit the roads RVing across the country. He loved meeting new people at each campground. They fished, played games, loved potlucks and he especially enjoyed playing the Elf and the Grinch at the Christmas parties.

Howard is survived by his wife Sharron; brother Waylon (and wife Brenda); his son Kurt (wife Kristi); 2 stepchildren Heather Degreif (husband Chad), Darren Jones (wife Dory); 5 grandchildren: Austin Adams (wife Kelsey), Payton Adams, Logan Degreif, Parker Degreif and Jessica Jones; 2 nephews Marcus Adams (wife Katie) and Matthew Adams (wife Breezy) and their 5 children.

Howard was preceded in death by son Kyle Adams, mother Nola Mae Draper and father Julius Howard Adams.

Special thanks to his caretakers: Leslie Butler, Heather Miller, Lauren Reynolds, Charlene and Ester.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Lung Association (action.lung.org).
